RE-CAP STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL 2024
The 42nd Annual Strawberry Festival, sponsored by the Lemont Village Association, was a beautiful day, Saturday, June 8, 3 pm to 7 pm, Lemont Village Green. We had over 1,000 visitors who enjoyed fresh strawberries, homemade cakes, Meyer Dairy Ice Cream, and Lemonade in ALL COMPOSTABLE tableware. The “Speeder” rides by the Bellefonte Historic Railroad all afternoon were very popular, and people enjoyed music by Mary Madigan, Gwen Stimely, Steve Buckalew and the last two hours, by Extra Miles, Andrea Miles and Patty McKenna. Casey Welke was a great sound technician.
272 quarts of strawberries were hulled by 25 volunteers, in 2 hours on Friday evening, and six others washed, bagged, and hauled them to the fridges.
15 folks served ice cream, cake, strawberries, and lemonade, 6 people were cashiers, 4 were traffic supervisors, and 55 provided cakes. Over 1000 enjoyed the fruits of our labor. The neighbors were understanding about all the traffic and disruptions, College Township provided barricades, W.R. Hickey's provided lots of ice, Emma Larrabee did great face painting, and lots of folks helped clean up in 30 minutes. DETAILS BELOW:
